I’d have to agree with Brent. You’re really going to be subject to individual biases here.
Personally, I prefer Canon. I’ve never had a Canon that has failed me yet, and I consider them the best. I recently purchased a Canon SD1000 which I really liked, so maybe you could look for that one.
I think that Casio is probably the worst. Olympus, Sony, and Nikon I’ve heard to be good, as well. I had a Kodak once I was satisfied with it. I can’t say about Samsung, however.
The best thing to do is go to an electronics website, like Newegg.com or something similar, look for digital cameras in your price range, and check out the reviews and specs for each one. THEN narrow down a few, go to a local electronics store and TRY them . I can’t stress that enough, because if you’re going to lay down over $100, you might as well make sure it’s something you’ll want to keep for a while. :]
