Hospital Bag Packing – Is it all necessary ?
Ok for myself I was thinking: (Of course I know the other things Camera, Chargers, cells, #s, Deoderant, brush & basics)
(A few of each:
PJ Pants
Tank Tops
Bras
Tees/Night Shirt
Underwear
Something to wear home
Plastic bag for dirty laundry
Body Wash
MakeUp
Shampoo
Conditioner
Straighting Iron for my hair
Flip Flops for Showering
For Baby
A few Nightys
Car Seat
Blanket
Something to wear home
Is that too little ?
I mean people have Pads, and endless lists I know the hospital will have what I need and thats what I pay for insurance for to be provided with what I need I dont want to pack a endless amount of things Ill have to put away when Im home.
If you are in the US you really don’t need much. The baby will be provided with diapers and wipes and a shirt to wear and blankets and everything they need for their stay. You just need an outfit to get the baby home and the car seat.
For you, I’d just bring a couple bras, a robe, some socks, and a going home outfit as far as clothes go. You are going to pass a ton of blood. Why ruin your panties and your nightgowns? Bleed into the mesh panties and hospital gowns. Use the hospital pads.
Flipflops and your own shampoo and soap and toothbrush and makeup are a great idea. Where do you plan to find the time to straighten your hair though?
The less you pack the less you have to wash. Most women end up paying the full deductible on their insurance, so using hospital stuff doesn’t cost you more. I paid the full $2500! They charge you for the stuff in your room even if you don’t use it. They put some hospital pads in your room after delivery, and you are charged because they can’t be given to someone else now. Same with your box of tissues, etc!
When you get home with a newborn you don’t want a ton of laundry to do, tons of unused junk to unpack, etc. You will want to rest and enjoy your baby.
