Going to some sketchy places next year (Rome, Barcelona etc) so how do I protect my camera from pickpockets?
I will be keeping the bulk of my cash in my waist belt money thing and a bit of cash in my pockets but I really want to take pictures. My camera will be out in the open quite a bit as I will be using it. Should I just use my strap and hold onto it the whole time or put it in a tightly secured messenger bag? Anyother suggestions to avoid pickpockets?
Go to a pawn shop (hope I spelt THAT right) and buy an old camera in a ratty tatty carry case.
Dispose of the old camera (check before you chuck to ensure yours is in fact the better of the two first, but.)
Place your you-beaut camera inside the old camera case and ‘viola’……….
Not only will you not get your camera nicked, in no time, shady looking people everywhere will be surreptitiously slipping cash donations into your pockets, wallet and bumbag in all the most rabidly catholic and yea, even unto the most sketchy areas around Italy, just out of professional sympathy to assist you to go purchase a decent camera, so they got something nice to nick off you next time.
