When is it okay to carry a woman’s purse?
My boyfriend refuses to carry my purse; he says it’s imasculating. We travel a lot, we have overnights, and we shop a lot together. There are times when I simply need a hand, to carry or hold my purse for a little while until I can take it back. Because of his feelings and the inconvenience to me, I tried going without a purse but ended up losing keys, money, license, etc. over time. Then I hit upon a compromise by going into RadioShack and buying a Camera Case, all black and grey with no frills, and set out to use that as my purse. Today, I have my right arm in a sling, and I asked him to carry my camera bag/purse while we walked into the frame shop. He still refused, saying “it’s a purse and I won’t carry your purse.” It didn’t matter that to him that it was technically a unisex camera bag, or that I wanted his help… He told me if I can’t carry my own purse than leave it in the car. What do you think? How do you think I should respond?
It’s YOUR purse. Get one with a long strap and sling it across your chest- hands free. He’s told you over and over and over that he doesn’t not want to carry your purse. Why don’t you just deal with your own purse?
