What SLR camera/lenses do I need for sport?
I have used SLR’s before, but I wouldn’t call myself a pro yet.
I am looking for an SLR that is the best for price/performance.
I have been looking at Canon EOS 550D and that seems quite good, except my friend told me that Nikon is the way to go.
I would also like some help with lenses for sport, especially tennis and possible underwater photography.

It’s personal preference. Your friend probably uses Nikon and that’s why he/she suggested it. If you have your eye on the 550D, go for it. It looks like yet another excellent DSLR from Canon and has a lot of nice features.
Shooting sports? Indoors or outdoors? For indoors you’ll probably want a lens with at least a max. aperture of f/2.8. For outdoors, f/4 would probably be fine.
