Canon EOS Rebel or Nikon D40?
I am looking for a beginner DSLR camera for my boyfriend. He has no experience in photography but loves taking landscape and unique pictures with our basic Canon digital camera. I have narrowed it down to a Nikon D40 and the Canon Rebel. They are pretty comparable in price, but I know nothing about cameras. Also, there are a ton of Canon Rebel versions… which one is best? I would like to keep it under $600. Can anyone compare the: Canon EOS Rebel XS Digital SLR Camera to the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Digital SLR Camera?
you can’t go wrong with either. the D40 is an older camera now, similar to the canon XT and XTi. The D5000 (above your pricerange) and D3000 are the current competitors to Canon’s entry level (T1i, XSi, XS). I would recommend looking at either the D3000 or D40, both are great. I perfer Nikon’s ergonomics (how the camera feels in your hand) and optics (lens performance) but it’s really up to you. if your boyfriend likes using the canon more, then get it…you can try them out in a best buy or any kind of large store. like I said, you really can’t go wrong. they’re both going to take very similar images.
