Digital camera recommendations – UK?
Merry xmas all!
I am heading to Australia for a year & want to buy a new digital camera in the UK beforehand…can anyone suggest a decent basic model for no more than £150, preferably less?
I need something relatively easy-to-use, that preferably doesn’t take batteries (i.e. one of those chargeable ones), can take good photos in the dark, has some kind of zoom function, is hard-wearing, etc…the camera will be coming to pubs, music festivals, etc. with me & I will be staying in hostels a lot of the time, therefore I want something that I can capture fun times with, but not something really expensive that’s likely to get nicked.

Both Currys and PC world had some Samsung K1000 on special offer recently for £89.00 – I bought one for a knocking about camera, has both optical and digital zoom, quite a few features I would not have expected on a bargain price camera – 10 megapixel

Mine worked resonably well in an art gallery and a museum without flash – it has some form of digital andti shake but this makes it ues the battery faster than on other settings – the manual is on the CD rom so you might have to play about to discover all the features it has.
Similar but 12 megapixel camera http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/234260 for £99, cannot vouch for tis one but I expect it wil be pretty similar – I am pleased with my P1000
