I have the olympus stylus 9000 digital camera and i’m having trouble focusing on the pic. any suggestions?
I want to take the blur out of the shot. i know your supposed to press the shutter button halfway but I’m having trouble with that.

You have a point n shoot which uses Contrast Detection Auto Focus. It picks an area where it sees contrast and focuses there. Where it focuses may not be where you want it to focus.
You have no manual focus but you have 3 auto focus modes.
iESP Auto, Spot AF, Face Detection AF
iESP AF will probably give you problems in some photos. It analyzes the whole scene and chooses where to focus. Where it sees the highest contrast is where it will focus. This could be way off mark.
Face Detection AF will try to focus on faces of your subjects
Spot AF will focus on a small portion of your subject right in the middle of the viewfinder.
I didn’t read all the specs and features of your particular camera but many have AE/AF lock (Auto Exposure/Auto Focus Lock). To use it:
Switch to Spot AF. Place the portion of your subject you want in focus in the center of the viewfinder. Press the shutter down half way until it focuses, sets exposure and says its ready. Now you can move your camera to compose the subject the way you want then finish pushing the shutter all the way. The area you selected for focus should still be in focus.
