KATA CAMERA BAGS BACKPACKS
How do I carry my camera on a canoeing/camping trip?

My husband and I are going on a canoeing/camping trip in April. I am worried about several things when it comes to the safety of my camera and so I am looking for suggestions on a bag. We will be canoeing in rapids and I am worried about the water. I love my camera and it is also what I do for a living so I cannot afford to have it ruined. Also, general bumpiness of the canoe, and carrying it while hiking and stuff while also carrying my backpack. Any suggestions on how to keep my camera safe from all of these elements or a good bag to look at? I have been looking at Kata or National Geographic but I want to know that I am getting the best most versatile bag for my buck.
i forgot- it’s a canon rebel xti dslr if that makes a difference

Anya, don’t take anything you can’t afford to lose. If you depend upon your camera(s) for a living, then take another one – maybe buy an old 35mm manual camera and a couple of 2nd hand lenses.

Water and I don’t get along…
1) Have a beautiful waterproof bag but it wasn’t properly fastened when it went for a swim. Killed an electronic camera and ruined pretty much everything else. My Nikon FM2 just shrugged it off… (It’s surprisingly easy to change lens and not get time to close up properly again.)
2) Left a waterproof camera because it was too deep/dangerous to retrieve…
3) Dropped a camera in water when hiking very quickly down a hill on my a$$ and ruined that, too.

I bought a bridge camera for silly expeditions as I can’t afford to lose any more cameras.

My waterproof bag is a Lowepro Dryzone 200. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Just keep it closed…
